"Alias ="

This is going to show how to have X aircraft use
Y aircraft's panel or sound when flying. The benefit to your
hard drive is obvious.
When you download an aircraft in FS98 and it doesn't
have it's own panel or sound it is aliased to the closest match
in the default (original) aircraft in MSFS. Some bizarre
combinations occur, I've seen helicopters with the default 737-400
panel, but that is rare.
The "aliased" panel.cfg file looks like this when opened.

[fltsim]
alias=Bell206B\panel

The "aliased" sound.cfg file looks much the same.

[fltsim]
alias=Bell206B\ sound

There are some variations to this, when dealing with various
but when you want to make one craft have another's panel or sound
this will work.
To change the craft to which you want to alias,put the
cursor "flashing line" between the B and the slash \. Now hit back
space and remove Bell206B. Be sure to leave the = sign there.
Type in the name of the craft whose panel you want to use
type it exactly as it is on the Aircraft folder.
In this case it reads like this-500dtdmp-

So it will look like this;

[fltsim]
alias=500dtdmp\panel - for panel

or like this

[fltsim]
alias=500dtdmp\sound - for sound

Be sure to put the new title between the = and the \
and type it EXACTLY as it is on the folder and it'll work..
.........GO FLY with your new panel and/or sound....tailboom
