Background

This is simply a list of airfields, coordinates and NDBs gathered up from various sources and put into one listing in notepad format. That enables the user to cut and past from the list to the aircraft "notes" text files in a given aircraft folder.

1. Not all CFS 2 airplanes have a notes text file. Look for a text file named for the specific aircraft and having a text format. Some typical ones are formatted like this:
B29_bokscar_notes/ p51D_notes/ BA_p38J_notes.

2. You can create a notes file by copying a text file from any airplane and then renaming it to fit the airplane you are building it for. For example, copy the text file p51D_notes into the aircraft folder for the A6M5_ zero. Then rename it to A6M5_Zero_notes.

3. Once the notes file is built, you can either type in it directly or cut and paste into it using notepad or notepad formats. You can then access it in flight by selecting it from the top menu (Alt- then click aircraft-kneeboard-notes) or using the keyboard. If you have CFS 1 keys active it is (shift+C). If you are using the CFS 2 keys it is (C). Some panels will also have an Icon that looks like a book that will bring up the kneeboard.

4. You can load as much or as little as you want to the kneeboard. Some might load the full set of notes and then be capable of worldwide navigation. Others will choose to load only Europe, Italy, or the Pacific notes and use those to navigate with GPS (by coordinates) or from point to point using Airfield NDBs. It is your choice. This list is just designed to pull the available points into one list.

5. You can use the list items to build a flight plan of sorts. Layout where you want to fly and copy the airfields or locations from the list to your aircraft notes in the order you want to fly your mission. For example: If I wanted to fly from Rochford to Calais to Duxford to Rochford. I would copy:

ROCHFORD N 51:37.20 E 00:43.07 502 60
CALAIS N 50:58.88 E 01:58.73 600 &450 60
DUXFORD N 52:01.94 E 00.09.22 612 60
ROCHFORD N 51:37.20 E 00:43.07 502 60

Now I can open the kneeboard in-flight and have the data on my waypoints available to change the NDB frequencies or to use a GPS and set in the coordinates. If I just want to fly randomly, I might copy the whole European list and then select the point I wanted next.

Installation

1. There is no specific place to park this list. It is in notepad format to make it easy to copy and paste from it to the aircraft notes file. You can create a folder for it wherever it is convenient for you. I have mine on the same drive as CFS in its own folder called "ACFT Notes". I open that folder and the list and copy and paste the items that I want.

2. You might want to create one airplane set of notes with the entire list on it. Then you could open that in notepad and copy and paste to the airplane you plan to fly.

3. The use of the items is limited only by your own imagination and creativity. You can pick and chose what you want accessible in flight.

NOTE THAT THE ITALY NDB AND COORDINATE LIST MAY OR MAY NOT HAVE AN ASSOCIATED AIRFIELD. THAT DEPENDS ON IF THE SCENERY HAS BEEN CREATED. ALSO NOT ALL OF THOSE ON THE GZR ITALY LIST HAVE SCENERY. SOME ARE STILL TO BE BUILT.

Credits

The original RAF_662 NDBs for defaults and other airfields- Neil Park. You can get The ADF and the NDB install for CFS 1 at http://www.dyno-tech.com/bravo/gauges34.html
There is an article on how to make them work in CFS 2 at the Old Geezer Website under "Discussions/Technical Stuff."

Matthias Pommerien has available a set of grass runways for 66 of the original CFS runways that he made available in CFS 2.

- The Italy list comes from Corrado Sandri. His list and NDBs are also originally for CFS. However, as with the RAF_662 NDBs they will work in CFS 2.

The Pacific Add-ons were create by Steve McClelland in several installments: CFSIIFUELADF, CFSIIRYUKU, AND CFS2pac1.

Martin Wright created Crete Mesh terrain. Camp Bamos and Retimo are Airfields created by Ralf j. Triebel (X_MAT) on the island of Crete.

You can find the add-on items at Flightsim.com or other sim download sites.
