The Heinkel He-219 Uhu (Owl)
The aircraft depicted is a Heinkel He-219 Uhu. This aircraft was a late war addition to the Nachtflieger and not many reached operational service. It is modeled after a typical night fighter scheme and carries the codes of NJG 1. Most He-219s flew out of Bonninghardt, Venlo or St. Trond. The He-219 had many interesting features. It carried a crew of two, pilot and gunner. Some later versions added a 3rd crew member. It was one of the first operational aircraft to feature ejection seats, tricycle landing gear, interchangeable armament combinations and an all-round view canopy.
