FS2002 and Airport/VOD textures.
Introduction
This fictional scenery
area is small yet dense, and is located about 40 miles from the infamous
Groom Lake complex or Area 51 in a region of Nevada that is referred to
on maps as "Echo Canyon" mainly because of Echo Canyon Reservoir which
unfortuntely was left out of FS2002. This version is primarily an
FS2002 update, however the previous version of AFC3 will
not be needed. Among many changes from
version 1 are the all new hangars, more custom macro's and a few new facilites.
This version of AFC3 was created with FS Scenery Creator 1.5.7 and serves
the same purpose as the original. It is the main base for all concepts
built by Aeroworks Technologies and since some of them are SST types, namely
the Aurora project, the base was designed for the specific purpose of accomodating
these exotic vehicles. Some of the new custom macro's are for the Aurora/Space
Shuttle (SV) operation such as the docking crane for mating the space shuttle
used during Battle of the Airlines' 2003 race, MISSION-Moon, and Area-A
version 1.8 served as the final landing site for the SV-1 Orion space shuttle.
Only a few modifications have been made since,...enjoy!
The Info...
If this is your
first version of Area-A here is all the pertinent frequencies you will
need for base ops. Or if you prefer image form, I have also included
a base facility map and additional sectional
chart of ALL the new sceneries that are due for release in this
area.

AFC3 supplement page.
Runways-
Area-A consists
of 4 different runways of different types and uses.
-
The main runway is 7/25
which is 20,000 x 300 feet and contains an ILS with DME on both headings.
It is used for experimental aircraft that require high-speed taxi tests,
ILS tests, and, of course, takeoffs of the bigger, faster concept aircraft.
-
Runway 9/27 is 15,000
x 200 feet (no ILS) and it is intended for the use of cargo planes/ misc.
jet traffic in general.
-
Runway 36L/18R is 12,000
x 150 feet with ILS/DME on both headings and is used as the main ILS runway
for non-experimental jet traffic.
-
Runway 36R/18L is 10,000
x 150 feet (no ILS) and it is used mainly as a primary runway for chase
aircraft or a secondary runway for non-experimental jet traffic.
A startup location for
the chase ramp at the end of Runway 18L can be found by going to FS6 and
before in the Airport Facility Directory.
