KTB798V1 x FS98 Patch for FullScreen
By Massimo Gelati PVI-BO gelati_massimo@iol.it
This file resolves the problems in the functioning in Fullscreen mode of the panel for Flight Simulator98 by Kentaro Kaneko KTB798vl.zip which contains the representation of the cockpit of the Boeing 777.
This panel is at the present time, in my modest opinion, one of the best realizations for FS98 currently available on the Internet for the B777 and similar twinjets and it attempts to explain step by step how to resolve the problem of blurry images encountered in the original version in 3Dfx or FullScreen mode.
Installation
To begin, set up the Windows95 taskbar by clicking on the bar with the right mouse button and de-activate the option Always on Top.
Once this is done, change the screen resolution of the Windows95 set-up to 800x600 (better, yet, in 256 colors) since this panel functions correctly ONLY in 800x600, gaining among other things some frames in the updating of images during the running of FS98, which never hurts.
Unzip patch.ktb798vl.zip and copy all the .BMP files and the panel.cfg into the directory where the panel was previously installed, overwriting all the original files, but not before executing a back-up for security.
OK, start Flight Simulator98 and choose an airplane which doesnt use the panel of Kaneko (for example, the Cessna) and activate the option Hide Menu Bar by clicking with the right mouse button on the area of the screen which represents the external cockpit view, thus causing the FS98 menu bar to disappear.
Enter now, if you havent already done so, into FullScreen mode by pressing ALT+ENTER even if you dont have an accelerator card with 3Dfx, thus making the upper bar of FS98 disappear (the blue one in the examples). At this point, you can choose an airplane which uses the panel of Kaneko and admire it in all of its beauty.
At this point, you can return to Normal mode maintaining a perfect view of all the instrumentation in order to be able to utilize all the add-ons which require windows (such as EFIS, NAVDASH 2.5, DP-GPS, etc.), or you can remain in FullScreen mode if you have a 3Dfx card.
Notes on the Copyright
This file is completely FREEWARE and it is not possible to earn money in any way or insert it into a CD enclosed in magazine or copy any part of it without having received permission from the author of the panel, Kentaro Kaneko, who holds all the rights to the panel, including the bitmap modified by me.
I would like to thank Kentaro Kaneko personally for his realization, excellent, as always, and for making it available on-line in the spirit of FREEWARE distribution with the only compensation being a great personal satisfaction THANKS!
