Site Narrative:
DOD use began in 1942 with the acquisition of 150 acres. The site was an off-base landing and take-off gravel strip to support the training of pilots from the nearby Olathe Naval Air Station. In 1954 the site was declared excess and in 1955 it was quitclaimed to a private interest. In 1977, the Kansas City District of the United States Army Corps of Engineers reacquired the property for the Hillsdale Lake Project.
KDHE prepared an initial Site Screening Report and recommended No Further Action in a comment letter dated Oct 29, 2001.
